CORPORACIÓN MIRAFLORES S.A. - MEASURES TO MITIGATE THE SOCIAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL RISK - PART 2 (Environmental).

The Following are the most important aspects regarding the environmental issues that CORPORACION MIRAFLORES S.A. faces:

a.    COMISA will develop its activities within a space marked by a totally inadequate environmental management, the development of unjust social relations and the almost absolute absence of the State to fulfill its basic social responsibilities for the progress of the human person.

b.    The economy of the sector is based, as we have indicated, in the small family productive unit whose main crop for family self-support is rice. Thousands of hectares are lost each year due to the salinization produced by excess water and the indiscriminate use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides.

 The COMISA's technology proposal in the crop management will improve: (i) the training, knowledge and improvement in the use of natural resources from its workers to the local family production units, to other enterprises in the area; (ii) the proper environment management through development of microbiology for the restructuring of soils and the use of fertilizers and organic boosters; (iii) as well as the technological management of water, biological control of pests, meristematic management, etc., will be short-term daily activities in the sphere of productive influence of the project.

Likewise the recovery of the Dry Forest, that the company has as purpose to develop in the high zones of the lands in a proportion of 25% on the installed areas of crops and the use of the sub products with which this contributes, for: the fertilization of Soils, the development of beneficial insects for the control of pests, the use of animal feed supplies, the proper handling of micro-climate, the timber use of their species, will obviously be another pattern of education for the sustainable development of the environment.

c.    With this approach COMISA is participating with the State authorities, both in Agriculture, Production, and also Universities, in the formulation based on the company experience, in new protocols, crops management development in the Region prospecting the orientation to the organic management with environmental sustainability.
